In December 2013, the historian Bogdan Musial is a guest at a private Christmas party among Munich's high society. Alongside influential businesswomen and aristocratic princes, he is introduced to a particularly dazzling personality: Nicole - Hungarian countess, virologist, Vatican personal physician. She confides in Musial with an incredible story: Her late grandfather had to work in Auschwitz as a prisoner doctor under the notorious SS doctor Dr Josef Mengele and had kept a diary about this time. The countess offers Musial these diaries for his research. But that's not all: her grandfather's estate may even contain lost documents by Mengele himself. The historian is thrilled. Such a find would be a sensation. Musial begins his research on her grandfather and the role of the prisoner doctors in Auschwitz. But as he studies the diaries, he encounters more and more discrepancies. Are the records genuine or a forgery? And who is the mysterious countess really? The historian turns into an investigator, the sensation into an adventurous criminal case. A production by Viertausendhertz Studio for argon podcast.
